Born in Hanford, California, and a poetry student of Philip Levine at Fresno State, David R. C. Good was a longtime educator at Reedley College. With the exception of four years spent in the Air Force and a year on the coast, Good always lived in the fog and the heat of the San Joaquín Valley, never beyond the sound of the Santa Fe. Many of his poems come out of his life in Central California.

The type for the collection was set by hand, the pages were printed on a 19th Century Chandler-Price platen press, and the book was bound by hand.
