Raised in Fresno and Madera, Don Parkey’s poetry and drawings reflect his agricultural background and the voices and scenes of Central California. He began working in the fields of the San Joaquín Valley, and he was later educated at Fresno State. Before retiring, he was a longtime teacher in secondary and adult education, including time as an art teacher at Laton High School and creative writing teacher at Avenal State Prison.
The type for the collection was set by hand, the pages were printed on a 19th Century Chandler-Price platen press, and the book was bound by hand.
